New York City is serviced by three major airports:
John F. Kennedy International (JFK) – most international flights land here
LaGuardia Airport (LGA) – the closest to Manhattan
Newark Liberty International (EWR) – located in New Jersey and is the furthest from Manhattan
Upon landing at one of the area airports, there are several modes of transportation available to Manhattan or Roosevelt Island.
Taxi
Taxi service is available outside of most terminal buildings. There is usually a flat rate fee for travel into Manhattan, plus tolls and tip.
Private Car Services
Private car services such as Uber, Lyft and Gett provide an alternative to taxi service.
A shared SuperShuttle van can be pre-booked at (800) 258-3826 or online.
Public Transportation
From JFK Airport, the AirTrain can be used to connect to the NYC transit system.
From LaGuardia Airport, local bus service is available into Manhattan with transfers to subway service.
From Newark Airport, the AirTrain will connect to the New Jersey Transit system for service into Manhattan’s Penn Station.

The option to stay in New Jersey is viable, too. You can stay in the Meadowlands area and commute into the city via train/bus, etc.
